About Maggie

Many things led me to becoming a therapist, including my natural curiosity about others and my own experiences in therapy.  I studied International Studies and Anthropology at Loyola University Chicago, then got my Masters degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.  My background includes work in preschools, a community mental health clinic, and community mental health non-profit agencies.

I value integrity, connection, slowing down, and acknowledging cultural and systemic issues that impact our mental health, and these values have informed my work in therapy both as a client, and as a therapist.  My style is warm, empathic, and intuitive.  My work draws from attachment, mindfulness, family systems, and psychodynamic theories.  As a mixed-race and multi-cultural woman, I have been especially interested in exploring the intersections of different parts of my identity, and I would happily support you in this work as well.

I have participated in a wide range of trainings in family therapy, mindfulness, trauma, early childhood mental health topics, conversations around power and oppression, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT), issues around sexuality, and more. I am committed to ongoing training, consultation, and education in the field of counseling psychology, and I also believe in the importance of doing my own personal therapy work to prepare me to sit with clients.
